How to Capture Repeatable Tasks with Tango's Browser Extension 🧩

Task: Capture Your First SOP with Tango (in 10 Minutes)

Screenshot of Tango

If you've ever found yourself explaining the same thing more than twice—this one’s for you.Tango is a browser extension that lets you record your screen as you work, and then magically turns those clicks into a clean, shareable step-by-step guide with screenshots and written instructions.

This task shows you how to install Tango, record a repeatable process (like uploading a blog or sending an invoice), and instantly create a shareable SOP (Standard Operating Procedure).

Why it matters? So your VA, admin, or new team member can follow your steps exactly—without pinging you five times on Slack.

What Needs Fixing 🔍

You know those “I’ll record a Loom later” moments that never happen? Or the 20-minute Teams messages explaining how to update a client’s folder? This is where Tango shines. Most micro-tasks that you could delegate don’t get documented because it’s a hassle.

Tango lets you document those processes on the fly—while you're doing them.

Why This Matters to Your Business 💡

This one tiny shift can help you:

  • Train new hires faster (without cloning yourself)

  • Make handovers smoother during leave

  • Reduce team bottlenecks and dependency on you

  • Finally get those SOPs out of your head and into action

Once set up, your team can follow the Tango guides without confusion—and without chasing you for clarification.

Key Questions Before You Start ❓

  • What task do I repeat weekly that someone else could take over?

  • Do I have 5–10 minutes to do it right now and record it in real-time?

  • Who on my team would benefit from this process being documented?

Step-by-Step Checklist: Set Up and Use Tango to Document a Task ✅

1. Install the Tango Chrome Extension

  • Head to www.tango.us and click Get Tango for Chrome or Edge

  • Confirm the install in the Chrome Web Store

  • You'll see a small orange “T” icon appear near your browser bar

🟡 Best Practice: Pin the Tango icon for quick access—click the puzzle piece (Extensions), then the pin next to Tango.

💡 Nudge: If you’re using a work Google account, make sure your admin allows extensions—Tango won’t work if browser permissions are locked down.

2. Choose a Task to Record

Pick something simple and repeatable - like:

  • Uploading a blog post

  • Creating a client folder in Google Drive

  • Approving invoices in Xero

Best Practice: Start small—choose a task you do in under 5 minutes. You can record longer processes later.

3. Click the Tango Icon → Start Capture

  • Click the Tango “T” icon in your Chrome bar

  • Select Start Capture

  • Tango will begin recording your clicks, keystrokes, and screen

Note: It only captures the tab you’re on - perfect for clean, focused recordings.

4. Complete the Task as Usual Work through your task normally. Tango will:

  • Snap a screenshot of each click or input

  • Add a written step based on what you did, e.g. “Click the Upload button”, “Type the blog title”

Tip: Hover your mouse briefly before clicking - Tango needs a second to capture clear screenshots.

5. Click “Finish Capture” When Done Once you’re finished:

  • Click the Tango icon again

  • Hit Finish Capture

Tango will open your guide in a new tab with:

  • Clear steps

  • Auto-captured screenshots

  • Edit options to tweak text or blur sensitive info

6. Clean Up Your Steps (Optional But Handy)

  • Edit step names if needed (keep it action-based: “Click”, “Open”, “Type”)

  • Drag to reorder if you went off-course mid-task

  • Use the Blur Tool to hide email addresses, client names, or passwords

🛡️ Reminder: Blurring protects privacy, especially if you’re recording anything client-facing.

7. Share or Export Your SOP

From the guide view:

  • Click Share to get a link (view-only or editable)

  • Or click Export and choose PDF, PNG, or copy-paste HTML

📁 Best Practice: Save the PDF or link in your SOP folder or operations manual for easy access later.
